FAQ

What flavour of Boursin should I use?

Use whatever you want but my favourite it the garlic and herbs flavour!

Can I make this cheese log ahead of time?

Yes! It’s ideal for prepping in advance. Just store it in the fridge and add the honey drizzle before serving.

How long can it sit out?

About 1-2 hours at room temperature is fine before refrigerating again.

What can I serve with a dill pickle cheese log?

This cheese log pairs well with crackers, toasted baguette slices, pretzels, fresh vegetables, or pita chips.

Can I use goat cheese instead of Boursin?

Absolutely. Soft goat cheese works well and gives the cheese log a tangier flavor.

Can I make this recipe without pretzels?

Yes, you can replace the pretzels with chopped nuts, crispy onions, or extra fresh dill for a different texture.

Is this recipe gluten-free?

It can be made gluten-free by using gluten-free pretzels, crispy onions or chopped nuts.

Can I turn this into a cheese ball instead of a log?

Yes, simply shape the cheese mixture into a ball instead of a log before coating it.

Why is my cheese log too soft?

If the cheese feels too soft to shape, chill it in the fridge or freezer for a few minutes before rolling it in the coating mixture.

Dill Pickle Cheese Log

Ingredients

  • 300g boursin cheese/soft goats cheese
  • 60g gherkins, finely chopped
  • 30g pretzels, crushed
  • 2 tbsp dill, finely chopped
  • Honey, for drizzling

Method

  1. Shape the cheese log: Place a sheet of plastic wrap (14-16 inches long) on a work surface. Transfer the Boursin cheese to the centre of the plastic wrap. Bring the wrap up over the cheese and mold it into a log shape. Refrigerate for 30-40 minutes or freeze for 10 minutes to firm up - you can also skip this step but the cheese will be slightly softer to work with.
  2. Prepare the outer layer: In a bowl, mix together the gherkin, pretzels and dill. Set aside.
  3. Coat the cheese log: Spread the mixture evenly onto a clean chopping board. Unwrap the chilled cheese log and gently roll it in the mixture, pressing lightly to ensure it sticks. Make sure to coat the ends as well.
  4. Shape and finish: If needed, reshape the log after coating. Drizzle generously with honey.
  5. Serve or store: Refrigerate until ready to serve.
