These little tofu nuggets are roasted until crisp and golden then coated in a slightly spicy BBQ sauce. Roasting the tofu is a really effective (and healthier!) way to get it nice and crisp. An air fryer would also do the job too. I’ve used smoked tofu here because it really adds to the BBQ element of the dish, but you can substitute with normal tofu if you can’t find smoked.

This is excellent with rice (or in a taco) and some guacamole.
Extra firm smoked tofu: the smoked tofu adds to the BBQ element of the dish, but use normal extra firm tofu if you can’t find smoked!
Garlic: add as much as you like...
Spices: the ground spices and herbs here gives the base flavour.
BBQ sauce: use your favourite brand!
Hot sauce: add more if you like it spicy.
Worcestshire sauce: adds a nice savoury element and a bit of acid. Can be left out if needed.
Preheat the oven to 220c/200c fan. Line a large baking tray with baking paper and add 1-2 tbsp of oil. Place the tofu on the baking tray and sprinkle with salt. Put in the oven for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
In a medium sized frying pan over a low-medium heat and 1-2 tbsp of oil then add the chopped garlic. Cook until golden, about 2 minutes.
Add the tofu then the spices. Cook for a further two minutes.
Stir in the bbq sauce, hot sauce and a splash of Worcestershire sauce. Enjoy!
